NixOS

NixOS is Linux distribution based on the purely functional package management system nix, and composed of modules and packages defined in Nixpkgs.

Installing NixOS on existing VPS's with nixos-infect

• install Ubuntu 20.04 on host platform
• copy public ssh key to host machine: ssh-copy-id username@your_server_ip
• test the ssh connection: ssh username@your_server_ip
• run curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/elitak/nixos-infect/master/nixos-infect | NIX_CHANNEL=nixos-23.11 bash -x
• copy the configuration files: scp -r root@public_ip:/etc/nixos .
• configure the flake
• run nixos-rebuild switch --fast --flake .#default --target-host $REMOTE_SERVER --build-host $REMOTE_SERVER --option eval-cache false
