Fulfillment

Modified 2023-11-06

TL;DR: Don't use logic or intellect as a substitute for experience.

The more we narrow the scope of our life due to desires and fears, the less fulfilled we become.

We have two tools to understand things:

The danger with using intellect to define fulfillment is that once it comes up with an answer you feel less the need or motivation to go out and experience it. It tells you to not bother, because it came up with how it would feel like.

The intellect can keep the behaviors the same. Don't bother with anything, cause I can just keep playing video games, cause nothing matters. Video games are so addictive, because there's a denial of reward.

Adversity => success => fulfillment

The same principle applies to addictions, it's actually the craving into usage that makes it so rewarding.

Where do I find fulfillment?

The more intellectual our society becomes, the more we have opinions about things we haven't experienced. It leads to echo chambers on the internet.

Don't say "Oh, I know", before actually trying out the test or practice. Experience it yourself, and be aware of your mental wellbeing.
